The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe

This show revolves around an indoor soccer team as they go thru life and face a number of challenges. Designing this show was very interesting. Obviously, I had a lot of criteria to meet, such as the set being a soccer field. In speaking with the director, he used the phrase “endless cocoon” in describing what he wanted for the set. He wanted this soccer field to feel very warm and inviting for these girls and close them in to protect them, but also have the visual that it goes on forever.

To accomplish this, I designed a field that slopes up in the back as accentuated by the light wall, and continues on into the lip of the the stage, which acted both as a design choice and a ball catcher.
